Obama Speech Revs Up SC Students

Denver's Invesco Field wasn't the only packed venue for Barack Obama's historic acceptance speech to delegates on Thursday evening. On campus, more than 300 students packed the Annenberg lobby, which was hosting a watching event. Students repeatedly cheered and whooped as Obama spoke.

The USC College Democrats, which organized the speech, had plenty to keep students occupied before the speech. Different speakers, including Dan Schnur, who was John McCain's communication director in 2000 and is an SC professor, talked about what they expect from the speech.

Friday's Daily Trojan gave the speech top play, running a five-column banner headline and two photos -- one of Obama and one of students at Annenberg -- above the fold. Republicans on campus plan to hold a similar watching event when John McCain delivers his speech on Thursday.

Two things would make this a better blog post: 1)Links (one to the Daily Trojan's coverage you reference) and a picture of the Annenberg lobby watch party. You could even repurpose one found elsewhere -- just make sure to give proper photo credit and, if possible, a link back to the photo source.
