Panel Analyze Media Coverage of 2008 Election at USC

Above, Dan Schnur, former communications director for John McCain, discusses how the public can self-select the media it receives in something he likes to call "iPod politics." This kind of self-selection leads to more hostile Democratic and Republican party members, Schnur says.

Taking place at the USC Annenberg School for Communication on Thursday, Sept. 4, University professor Geoffrey Cowan, Journalism School director Geneva Overholser, journalism professor Michael Parks, senior lecturer Richard Reeves, law and political science professor Kareem Crayton and Dan Schnur, director of the Unruh Institute lead a discussion for students and faculty preceding the acceptance speech of Senator John McCain for the Republican nomination for President of the United States. They will analyze political speech and media coverage of the 2008 presidential election.
