Convention Watch at Annenberg School for Communication

“Welcome to Convention Watch in the Annenberg School.”

USC students and faculty gathered at the Annenberg School for Communication Thursday to watch Senator McCain’s nomination acceptance speech.

The event featured a roundtable discussion about political speech and media coverage of the election race.

Student groups were also on hand, trying to sway undecided voters.

“I think the student vote is really important,” said Ari Dana, a member of Students for John McCain. “We want to get young people involved in politics, especially on the Republican side. There’s a myth out there that all students are Democrats and all students are going to vote for Obama, but there’s a lot of support for McCain and we want to get the young generation into Republican politics too.”

Dana cited McCain’s education and energy policies as reasons undecided student voters might vote Republican.

For the Virgin Vote, I’m Derek Staahl.
