Election Night in Annenberg

Over 100 students gathered in the Annenberg School for Communication lobby to watch the election results on 6 giant plasma screens.

"It's really exciting," said freshman Marielle Membreno who voted for Democrat Barack Obama. Currently Obama leads McCain 207 to 135 according to CNN. "It's really looking good [for Obama]."

But for some Republicans in the largely Democratic crowd, the event was decidedly less positive.

"These are all just students who don't have access to TVs at home and want to watch Comedy Central," said Junior Sam Foley, who voted for Republican John McCain. Two of the six TVs were showing Comedy Central's "Indecision 2008" coverage.

Foley also mentioned voting earlier in the the day had been difficult.

"I waited in line for 45 minutes at the USC Catholic Center at 8 a.m.!" Foley said, but added that she definitely thought it was worth it, despite California's Democratic-leaning tendencies.

Asked about her biggest fear about Obama becoming president, Foley said, "It's his inexperience. Right now we need a leader who can deal with international issues."
