Community Despite Division: USC Students Gather at Annenberg to Watch the Election

Obama and McCain supporters have come together to watch the election results unfold in Annenberg's East Lobby. Groups including CalPIRG, the Students for Barack Obama and the Students for John McCain have been phone banking and coordinating election-day efforts from Annenberg's lobby since 8 a.m. Starting at 5 p.m., students, faculty and friends have come to watch a telecasts of election results. Dan Schnur, Director of the Unruh Institute of Politics, is here to provide expert analysis and opinion on the outcome. 


Students crowd around Annenberg's six television screen that broadcast CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, the Daily Show and the Colbert Report's coverage of the election. 


Students enjoy refreshments as they watch the Daily Show's coverage of the election. A dryboard next to the screen tallies electoral votes and the outcomes of the various California propositions. 

Students compare various newscasters' coverage of the election as screen are arranged closely together. 


Annenberg remains full even as the election winds down and Obama's win seems imminent.
