SNL and the 2008 Campaign

NBC's Saturday Night Live has been receiving high ratings from their hilarious parodies about the 2008 Presidential Campaign. The mixture of pop culture and politics meet in satire in which both Republican and Democratic presidential and vice presidential candidates participate in. Sens. Obama and McCain along with Sen. Hillary Clinton and Gov. Palin, have all made appearances on Saturday Night Live. SNL has long been making fun of politicians and presidential races, however this year, it seems to be attracting more viewers, and maybe because the actual candidates that are being made fun of are making guest appearances on the show, as Palin did this past weekend.

Even Giuliani and Mike Huckabee made appearances on SNL's Weekend Update where Giuliani blamed SNL for his demise as a presidential candidate for appearing in a skit dressed as a woman in an earlier show, and Huckabee was being made fun of for overstaying his welcome (Seth Myers hinting he prolonged his presidential race longer than he should have). However, the politician I have yet to see make an appearance on SNL is Democratic Vice Presidential candidate, Joe Biden. Perhaps he'll be next?

Meriah, this is a feature-type story including a slideshow I made on vuvox.

I really like this still photo slideshow on vuvox. This was a great idea to do it this way.

I agree, I am used to viewing SNL-related posts in a video format, and this was an interesting way to illustrate the candidates' appearances on the TV show.

Very cool idea. The SNL presidential skits are definitely a way to get young voters interested and involved.
